A new factory layout, fit-out and operation
Frames Now needed more output. Paul delivered an end-to-end project: designing the layout, managing the fit-out and optimising how the factory runs.

- Factory layout design · fit-out management · operations improvement
What we did
- Designed a new factory layout around the flow of product.
- Managed the physical fit-out.
- Optimised operations in the new layout so the gains held.
The result
A significant increase in factory output, delivered as one end-to-end project, with one person responsible from the first drawing to the running factory.
Why end to end matters
Layout projects often stall in the gaps between the person who drew the plan, the trades who installed it and the team who has to run it. Keeping design, fit-out and operations together means decisions made on paper get tested against how the factory will really work.
If you are planning a new layout
- Start with flow, not floor space. Map how product moves between steps before deciding where machines go.
- Balance the line first. The number of stations and how work is shared should shape the layout.
- Bring materials to the point of use. Every walk to fetch a part is time you pay for and don’t get back.
- Plan for the next stage. Leave room for the next machine or crew so you don’t have to move everything again.
- Plan the changeover. Decide how production continues during the move.
Planning a move or expansion?
The best time to get the layout right is before the machines are bolted down. See factory layout design.
